I need to travel to Italy towards the end of this August but my U.S. F-1 Visa expires mid July (I-20 is valid for a few more years from now). So I am planning to travel to Italy from U.S.A, and after my stay in Italy, return to my home country to renew my F-1 Visa. I then return to U.S.A and complete my education (I have enrolled for the Fall semester already, which I verified wasn't an issue).
My problem is, according to the Italy Consulate at Detroit (my residence jurisdiction), I need "Valid International Student visas and valid re-entry (“travel”) signature on I-20;". I have a travel signature on my I-20 that is valid until next year, but my F-1 VISA expires mid July this year (2 weeks before the appointment).
Would my current F-1 expiry date affect my Italy tourist visa application (appointment is in the first week of August)?
Thank you.
