I'm sure this is an age old question, but...
My Ubuntu box has upgraded itself to 7. And failed for whatever reason. I think I may have accepted the update but if I had known it was replacing the kernel there's no way I'd have said yes in the middle of the week!
I believe this happened last time and I ended up reinstalling. I'm sure I'll have to do the same this time. But I have work to do.
The point I'm making is that there's no way I'd update Windows 10 to 11 without two days notice. I would plan ahead. Yet I can't trust my Ubuntu box not to update itself.
So would it not be a good idea to make it clear to the user that this is a major upgrade rather than a patch? If people are to rely on Linux desktop as their day to day machine that is?
